Diane S's Motor & Paper

Paper & Motors

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxuTqwOMLJs

Concept: Use vibrator motor to bring a destructive quote about art to life.

Quote: “ Art is the symbol of the two noblest human efforts: to construct and refrain from destruction” – Evelyn Waugh (famous british author) brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/desctruction.html

Irony: Created an art piece that is human constructed and threw the strings that holds it together its attempting to refrain from deconstruction. The motors interact with the paper by attempting to deconstruct it and rip it apart.

Note: This piece is supposed to be considered a prototype for a bigger art piece that could be seen in a gallery. I really wanted to focus on the concept and bring the quote to life threw the materials that I used. With a larger environment to present and more of a knowledge of the tools that are available to me, I believe that this could be taken to a much bigger scale and threw that could have a much bigger audience reaction. Perhaps the next step would be instead of the interaction be between the paper and motor, but threw the audience powering the motors attempting to deconstruct it.

Materials:Bold

Tissue Paper: Red + Orange - used to write out the quote

Plain white note paper: Because it is where one writes ideas

Cardboard: Hold up piece/motors

Two Vibrator Motors

String: To hold the cut quote together. To amplify what the quote is saying.

Batteries: To power the art piece
