Paper and Motors Project

Michelle Hua & Phuong Diep

Our inspiration was based off of the movie "Mic Macs", which can be seen here in this video (the scene is about 35 seconds in). We wanted to make a spinning dress figure similar to the one in the video, but wanted to look for a way to simplify it for ourselves. By doing so, we decided to use DC motors that would be powered by rather small charged batteries so that the ballerinas do not spin too fast. We then placed the motors inside a "stage" that was made with light weight particle board. The ballerinas were made of construction paper, straws and tissue paper.

If we were to further our idea, we would probably hook our contraption up to an Arduino so that we can choreograph different dance numbers for the ballerinas, or even only have one spinning on its own.
