Motor & Paper Project - Nadja Cada

For the Motor and Paper Project I created an owl figure out of paper products with a motor neck that allowed for the head to spin clockwise. The owl could be perched on your shoulder as well.

The body of the owl was made of classic cardboard, the 'feathers' was made of two colours of sandpaper, the eyes of printer paper, and the beak of a star-burst wrapper.

I developed this idea from exploring the different types of creates that can be related to sitting on your shoulder. I settled on the owl due to the amazing fact that an owl can turn its head a full 180, which gives the impression that they can turn their head all the way around. Which matched with the motor that I bought.

I enjoyed this project and know that there are many other routs that can be explored within my concept such as, additional switches that allow for more control of the owls head movement, developing my own creature, and exploring different paper options of the overall look.
