Diane S's Audio & Object (Self Portrait Remix)

Concept: To represent my self portrait, I decided to recreate my bed and specifically use my pillow as my readymade. I spend most of my time in my room and especially my bed, it is where I can relax, do my best work for school, sleep and just my "best friend". Out of all the objects in my life, it is an object that is constant and where all my major thinking takes place so I thought it was a perfect fit to represent myself. The Audio was more of an aid to the object and then to just develop a sound that would really show what it is I hear and what noises allow me to work and relax at the same time. While, at the same time making the experience a relaxing soothing interaction for the users.

Object: Pillow as readymade, I filled up the pillow with various materials that were precious to my childhood and placed them so that there would be a dent of where a head "should" be.

Audio: Abstract sound, I used various recordings of audio that I would hear in my room. This includes; noises from my window/outside, the shower running, footsteps, sheets moving and my cellphone vibrations etc. All blended together as different layers, meant to cause a subtle yet relaxing sound.

Materials: Pillow case, bed sheets, towels & various sheets as pillow filler, Ipod & Audio

Gallery: If I were to develop this idea further and bring it into a Gallery setting, I would like to recreate not just a bed, but an interactive bedroom with each object inside having its own interactive function., whether, it be threw audio or motors.
