For this project I used carton, thread and a drawing paper. Using pulleys and a servo to manage the thread's direction and speed.
I am interested in pop ups and I wanted to use them in this assignment. Taking the assignment one step further made me try to make a rotating object in my pop up.
The project's concept is to present life as it has its ups and downs for each person. Therefore, when the page is folded, the person is in a stage where life is hard and all the doors for hope are closed. However, when the paper is open it shows that a new opportunity was given to that person. The rotating object in the middle of the page, represents the difficult situations in life that any person has to go through to succeed or accomplish his/her dreams. Moreover, you can see the concept clearly by the lights and shadows created in the piece. Whenever you see a window of light created on the wall (a sign for hope), the person tries to pull him/her self up again.
